Located in the heart of Vancouver, Au Petit Comptoir has quickly established itself as a charming French restaurant that brings a slice of France to its patrons. With a menu that focuses on classic dishes, the standout item is undoubtedly the steak frites, perfectly accented by crispy fries cooked in beef tallow, a trend noted in multiple reviews. Diners rave about the flavors and quality of the food, from the moules frites in a rich white wine sauce to the savory and sweet crepes that have guests reminiscing about their experiences in French cafés.
The intimate setting and welcoming service enhance the dining experience, fostering a cozy café vibe. Reviewers like Joseph Leung were particularly delighted to celebrate special occasions here, praising not only the food but also the ambiance created by the patio facing the Granville St Bridge. Diana Wang and Kevin Ikuta echoed these sentiments, applauding the value and limited yet enticing menu. Desserts such as the chocolate mousse and crème brûlée have also captured hearts and taste buds, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to balance and flavor without excessive sweetness. Overall, Au Petit Comptoir is a beloved neighborhood gem worth any food lover's visit.

The steak frites were incredible. Beef tallow fries were cooked to perfection. The burger was delicious as well. The whole experience makes you feel like you’re in France. The chocolate mousse was well done and not too sweet.

We came here tonight for my birthday dinner. We wanted somewhere close by and not too boisterous. We thought we would try the re-branded location a try and we LOVED it. The restaurant is literally a block from our place. The patio (where we sat) in front of the Granville St Bridge chandelier is a great place to people watch but the size of the plaza it sits on provides a healthy distance between the patrons and the pedestrians. Everything we had was fantastic. I had escargots and moules frites in a white wine sauce and my husband ordered the cauliflower soup and flatiron steak cooked medium rare. The fries cooked in beef tallow were perfectly crispy. I dipped everything piece of mine in their house made mayonnaise. Both the mussels and steak melted in our mouths. The sauces of my escargots and mussels were light but had so much depth. I wished I had asked for more bread to soak them up. My husband loved his soup as well. He said the flavour was so rich he felt like he was eating cream (in a very good way). The serving staff members were extremely pleasant as well. We love our new neighbourhood restaurant.

Small intimate restaurant - good service and good value. Menu is quite limited so come knowing if you want moules frites or steak frites. The chocolate mousse is super yummy!

It was their opening night and we were to be one of the first groups to be seated. Staff are warm and friendly. The savoury and sweet crepes were equally delicious. It's been a long time since Vancouver had a great crepe restaurant. Visited Ca Marche and tried their new dinner menu. The steak frites and moule frites are awesome. The flavours are on point. A lot of thought has gone into each menu item to make sure they taste and look great. Even something you would think is simple, like the herb butter sauce for the steak, is very intricate and complex tasting. Get both the chocolate mousse and the creme brulee for dessert. You won't be disappointed.

Nice savory, buckwheat crepes, which are quite filling despite the look of its size. I'm sure the sweet/dessert crepes would be excellent too. Surprisingly, the fries are one the best I've had in Vancouver, it's perfectly crisp on the outside. Service is top notch and they take great care to perfect all their food. Small location, but has that cozy cafe vibe.

What a gem! Limited menu...for all the right reasons. My friend and I shared a salad and each had an entree. Her steak was divine, my mussels were fresh, tender, and full of flavor! There are no words for the creme brulee! Delicious wines! The service was top notch. It made the dinner even more special! Thank you!

Amazing service and amazing food. My wife had dietary restrictions and our waitress was able to answer all her questions and make any adjustments to our food. The waitresses and waiters spoke very good English and French. For my wife, she says the food tastes just like in France! The food was so good, I ate it before I took photos of it!

So happy I found this little place. It was such a nice experience with great food and wine. The escargot was especially delicious and the wait staff was truly a pleasure. Can't wait to visit again!
